In a recent poll I asked my followers what topics they would like to learn more about, this was one first the topics I received. I found that this is a huge concern for a lot of people. Rightly so, because you spend all this time perfecting your eye shadow only to realize it has creased mid-day, and it makes you wonder- what’s the point?
If you can relate to that situation, you have come to the right place. In this blog, I’ll be talking about the products I recommend and the steps on how to apply crease-proof eye shadow.
If your eye shadow is creasing horribly by mid-day or even by lunch time, then you may want to consider investing in an actual eye primer like Too Faced or Urban Decay Eye Shadow Insurance. Tip: When using an eye primer, make sure you apply this to a clean lid. This will be used prior to adding any eye shadows.
Before you try this technique, I do have a cost-savings method that may benefit many or you and save you some coins. Your girl is going to try to help you save some money.
What you’ll want to use is a matte concealer. My suggestions are either Tarte Shape Tape Concealer or Moira Mega Waterproof Concealer. Either one of these two will work. You want to make sure to get a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone. This will be the same concealer that you use to highlight the points on your face. The best things about using the same highlighting concealer is that it can create a great base for your eye shadows, increase longevity and will help your eye shadow colors to show up more vibrantly.
Most likely if your eye shadow is creasing horribly by mid day or lunch hours then you may want to consider investing in an actual eye primer like Two face or urban decay eye shadow insurance. When using your eye primer it will be the first product you use on a clean lid. However for this blog I will have you guys try this technique first then if it continues to crease then you will definitely need an eye primer. Your girl is trying to help self you some money
What you need:
Matte Concealer ( Tarte Tape Shape, Moira Mega Concealer )
Loose Translucent Powder ( Laura Mercier, Ben Nye Banana Powder, Revolutions Translucent powder)
Optional if your eye shadow is still creasing: Clear Eye Primer ( Two face Eye Shadow Insurance, or Urban Decay Eye Shadow)
How to apply:
Step 1. Make sure your eyelid is completely clean.
Step 2. Apply your concealer using your finger or a fluffy dome brush. (I prefer using my finger since the warmth of my fingers helps with the application. )
Step 3. Apply concealer all over your lid and as you go up above your crease you can lightly apply excess eye primer to highlight your brow bone.
(Tip: If your skin is still showing through then you will apply another layer. The key is to apply in thin layers and lightly build up the layers.)
Step 4. Apply translucent powder all over your eyelid using a fluffy eyeshadow brush. This will seal your eyeshadow base.
Step 5. Your eye lid is prep and ready for your eye shadows of choice.
