Have you gotten your hair styled for a special event professionally and loved it?
However, at the end of the night, when it’s time to take the hair apart you realized that you have this huge bird’s nest on top of your head, and have no clue how to take it apart. Drop your brush, because it is not a good idea to brush your hair when it is dry. Today, I’ll explain the steps on what to do to help break your teased hair and prevent any damage. But before I do that, I do want to clarify why tease is essential for a special event or bridal hair styling.
Wedding season is in full force, so you may be getting your hair done for a special event. When it comes to a special occasion, your stylist will tease your hair to give it extra lift and volume. Another advantage of teasing is that it helps to keep your hairstyle in place.
The challenge comes when it’s time to take the tease out. The normal tendency is for people to dry brush their hair after their hair is styled. I do not recommend this as this can cause breakage. Also, you can lose your hair by breaking your tease utilizing this process. The best way to remove the tease is to get into the shower and place a large amount of conditioner into your hair, and start to break up the tease with your fingers. The conditioner will help slowly loosen up the tease. Once it’s all out, you can shampoo and condition as usual.
Tip: Many of my brides stay in a hotel, so I suggest bringing an extra set of shampoo and conditioner. The small sample size hotel conditioner will quickly run out, especially when you have more than one event.
Step 1. Remove any bobby pins and let your hair down.
Step 2. Step into the warm shower and pour a handful of conditioner into your hair, and slowly work your fingers through the tease. This will gradually break up and loosen the tease.
Step 3. Once the tease is all out, you can shampoo and condition as you normally would.
Whether you like it or not, a lot of special event hair styling will require teasing. For most of us, special occasions do not occur often, especially if it is our wedding, so we have to go with the professional’s advice when we want to look perfect for the special day.
I hope this helps you in the future, so you can be better prepared for your big day! Be sure to share this tip with your friends and family who are getting their hair professionally done.
